About This Project

Repeatit Eliminates Backhaul Bottleneck for Nilai Municipal Council providing Backhaul for 50+ CCTV Cameras

Nilai Municipal Council (MPN) is a local authority, which administrates whole of Seremban district in Malaysia. MPN are responsible for public health and sanitation, waste removal and management, town planning, environmental protection and building control, social and economic development and general maintenance functions of urban infrastructure. With a vast array of responsibilities, CCTV & public safety was an area, which the council were experiencing an additional, unnecessary workload due to faulty backhaul that spanned their CCTV networks that includes 50+ cameras. CCTV transmission was patchy, with the picture often breaking up proving to be weak evidence in some cases. CCTV administrators working in the control centre reported the CCTV browsing experience to be extremely difficult, with a huge delay in PTZ camera movement caused by high latency in the wireless links. Turning to their existing backhaul manufacturer to replace the faulty wireless backhaul links, Nilai Council were unable to allocate funds towards the large upfront costs, especially as the previous equipment has become faulty in a short time.

Repeatit manufactures extremely high quality, high performing products and sells them at prices that make it financially viable for organisations, such as councils, to deploy large scale networks.

Nilai Council then turned to GTC Global Sdn Bhd, which proposed Repeatit. Using the Link Budgetizer planning tool, the council was able to plan and see that Repeatit would comfortably provide the desired throughput to run a HD CCTV network. What’s more, Repeatit’s standard 2-year free warrantee and cost effective price point gave the council reassurance of both quality and investment protection.

“The Repeatit equipment fits both commercially & technically. Repeatit manufactures extremely high quality, high performing products and sells them at prices that make it financially viable for organisations, such as councils, to deploy large scale networks.” Said Peter Chin, CEO at Rapid Mode. “As a Repeatit distributor, Rapid Mode and its partner GTC Global receive a high level of support from Repeatit. It’s a winning formula; great technology, great prices and great support.”

After seeing the performance & commercial benefits, Nilai Council decided to go ahead with a next generation, upgraded wireless backhaul solution comprising of Repeatit, supplied by GTC Global. Using small form factor yet ruggedized & powerful Trinity 318 links, the GTC Global proceeded to upgrade the CCTV network backhaul. The installation was fast & went smoothly for GTC’s engineers with the link up and running in no time.

From the moment the legacy wireless backhaul was upgraded to Repeatit, the council experienced a huge increase in CCTV quality. The council also doesn’t experience “patchy” footage and picture breakups are extremely reduced. As Repeatit’s latency is so low, browsing experience and controlling PTZ movement is real-time reducing headaches for CCTV administrators.

“It’s great to see that our global expansion is actually helping local councils, and eventually people, around the world. It’s great to work with esteemed partners like GTC in the wireless broadband industry and it seems that people are realising that there are better alternatives than what’s dominated the market for the past 15+ years.” Said Frank Pauer, CTO for Repeatit.
